McBain School officials are anxiously awaiting completion of the district’s new auditorium.

School superintendent Steve Brimmer did not elaborate on the expected completion date on the new auditorium.

“It is still under construction,” he said. “An anonymous donor donated money to build it. The approximate cost is $4.5 million dollars.”

It’s located on the east side of the building. The high school lobby area, was reconstructed to connect to the auditorium.
“The auditorium will seat just under 500 people,” Brimmer said. “The addition will add approximately 18,000 square feet to the school. It will have a stage that will be 50 feet wide.”

The school will be the primary users of the performing arts center.

“However, outside entities will be allowed to rent it using our building user fee structure,” Brimmer said. “McBain schools did not have an auditorium prior to this one being built.”

Brimmer said he’s not at liberty yet to discuss the name of the auditorium.

“It will be a state of the art performing arts center that will have the most current equipment, performing equipment and lighting,” Brimmer said.

The public reaction to the auditorium has been unique.

“I think the word ‘awe’ best describes peoples’ reactions thus far,” Brimmer said. “This is going to be an amazing auditorium that will enhance the educational opportunities we offer our students.”

This is the north side of the auditorium. It’s hard to see but there is a big door that’s open in the picture that allows the equipment to enter inside. In this picture there’s a cement truck in it.
