Veterans gathered for last year’s Memorial Day program to honor their fallen comrades.

The Marion Memorial Day Program is set for May 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial in downtown Marion. Veterans: Please meet at the VFW Hall at 9:30 a.m. to march to the Veteran’s Monument. The schedule is as follows:

Introduction and Pledge of Allegiance – Paul Bates
“Star Spangled Banner” – Marion JH/HS Band
Opening Devotion – Ken Zimmerman
Reading: “Memorial Day History” -Katlin Booms
“My Country” – Marion JH/HS Band
Reading: “Somewhere Out There” – Lauren Brocht
In Service Today (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.) – Bob Friend
Reading: “Honor Our Military” – Katlin Booms
“America The Beautiful” – Marion JH/HS Band
Honor Roll of Those Killed in the Line of Duty – Lauren Brocht, Memorial Wreaths Placed in Memory of Those Killed on Duty – Girl Scouts
Moment of Silence
Reading: “Memorial Day” – Lauren Brocht

Closing – Ken Zimmerman, Gun Salute – VFW Post 6015, Taps – Kelly Booms, Brittany McLeod, Parker Johnson
The VFW Post 6015 would like to thank everyone who helped with the program to honor those who gave their lives serving this country in wars and conflicts: Band Director Mark Johnson for his 30 years for this program; JH and HS students; Marion Girl Scouts; Virginia Cox for supplying the wreaths, and the Marion Fire Department Volunteers for their assistance with traffic. We thank everyone who attended and took time to honor our Veterans.
