Due to the structure of the schedule and some snowouts, Marion entered this week without much competitive cheer action the previous two weeks, prior to a scheduled meet on Wednesday.

Plenty of activity is coming up in the next several weeks.

Earlier this month, Marion was second at the Evart Invitational, and also took second a week later at a Pine River meet. The Marion Middle School team was first at that same meet in its division.

At Farwell, the varsity and middle school teams both took third.

“The Marion competition was cancelled because of bad weather,” Prielipp said. “The Brethren competition was also canceled due to low numbers and not enough teams there. It’s been awhile since we had one.”

There was scheduled to be an event in Evart on Wednesday.

“Next week, we have three coming up, Monday (Marion, makeup), Thursday (Marion) and Saturday (Brethren),” Prielipp said. “All five of the Highland Conference teams that have cheer will compete at (the Marion) competitions.”

In February, Marion’s team will compete in the Division 4 district meet with hopes of qualifying for the regional competition. Qualifiers from regionals compete in the state meet in early March at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids.
