Betsy Fisher, representing Marion schools, has reported on the success of the Marion schools’ recent Jump Rope for Heart event.
“Our events were held during physical education classes during a week,” she said. “Each student had the opportunity to raise funds for the American Heart Association with the culmination event being the day of jump roping during physical education classes.”
Fisher reported that the school raised more than $2,000.
Fisher explained that similar to other schools, It was Jump Rope for Heart/ Hoops for Heart 2017 with elementary students participating in fundraising and learning about heart healthy choices such as exercise, eating fruits and veggies daily, choosing water over sugary beverages and staying away from tobacco and sodium. Jump Rope for Heart officials add that students also focus on the importance of showing kindness and helping others.
