The Marion area and Osceola County, in general, seemed to have escaped, for the most part, significant damage from last week’s (March 8) wind storm.
“We really didn’t have to deal with a whole lot of it,”Osceola County undersheriff Justin Halladay said. “I know there was some damage in roadways with down trees. Ultimately, it didn’t affect the sheriff’s department too much, nor did we have to take too many calls on it.
“Thankfully we rode that one out. As a sheriff’s department it really didn’t affect our calls or cause us any hiccups in how we do anything.”
The only major reported occurrence was the death of a couple, Maxwell Muessig, 20 and Maggie Porter, 23, who were traveling on M-115 near the Clare and Osceola County line when the wind blew over a tree, killing them both after landing on the car. There were no other reports of casualties from the storm .
