Area observing Memorial Day

Various areas in Osceola County will be having observances of Memorial Day on Monday.

It continues to be a day when men and women who have died while serving in the armed forces are memorialized.

Marion will be having the Veterans Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Monument on Main Street with festivities beginning at 10 a.m. The Gissiwas Creek 2017 Pow Wow will be honoring veterans and will last throughout the day at 13819 N. Fifth Ave., according to published reports.

Evart will be having a Memorial Day parade starting at 10 a.m. at Guyton Park on the corner of Main Street and Fifth Street. It begins with a service and includes the high school band, a message and 21-gun salute. The parade proceeds down Main Street to the U.S. 10 bridge. Published reports indicate a wreath will be placed in the river, and the parade continues to Forest Hills Cemetery and closes at VFW Post 7979.

Reed City also has a parade which lines up at 8:30 a.m. at the Reed City Depot and starts at 9 a.m. The parade goes on Upton Avenue to the courthouse for a ceremony and continues to Woodland Cemetery.
