Osceola County Commission on Aging director Scott Schryer and others have been waiting for the opening of the new COA building in Marion for a long time.

It opened last week and Schryer couldn’t be happier.

“Things have been going great since we opened,” he said. “We are averaging around 20 or more. It’s a good turnout. People like the site a lot.”

The grand opening is 4-7 p.m. on July 18, as decided by the Osceola County Board Commissioners. Refreshments will be served.
“People can go through the building and see what it has to offer,” Schryer said.

A couple of other items are being placed into the building for usage, Schryer said.

The facility was originally scheduled to open in April or May but was delayed due to various construction issues. The county board terminated its use of the former COA facility at the Marion Eagles during a recent commission building.
