Calves lost in Osceola barn fire

Several crews batted a barn fire in Osceola County on July 21.

It happened at the Morlock Farm on 200th Avenue near Hersey. Several calves were lost in the fire.

Seven area fire departments responded in force.

The fire destroyed the barn and spread to a nearby grain silo.

Firefighters worked to keep it from spreading any other structures, including the house.

The family that owns the farm says they’re losing a lot of history in the flames.

“Well it’s terrible they’ve lost the barn that’s probably over 100 years old. They had young cattle underneath,” Janet Schmidt, sister of barn owner said.

“This farm has been in our family all our lives. It’s just so sad to see it gone,” Nancy Alles, sister of barn owner said.
Everything was lost in the barn and grain silo.
