Missaukee County Sheriff Jim Bosscher made an appearance before the county commission’s finance committee last week, and brought up two key issues.

Bosscher informed the committee that a deputy has been employed for the Lake City Area Schools. The district will be paying for the entire cost of the deputy’s salary, he said.

He also asked for annual approval of the secondary road grant.

Also at the committee hearing, Sherry Blaszak of the soil conservation district, talked about proposals for concrete work to add an approach in front of the recycle center building. The proposals would cover concrete, approach pouring, finishing and a saw cut for existing sliding doors to fit the new concrete. She told the board it should award the low bidder, Bode Construction, $5,300.

Blaszak also went over the current soil erosion permit fee structure and a new proposed fee structure. She recommended approval of the new fee structure and for the proposed fees to go into effect this Oct. 1. The committee asked Blaszak to provide the definition of a body of water as it relates to soil permits.

County administrator Precia Garland reviewed proposed revisions to M-4300 Disability Accommodation Policy. Garland said these proposed changes would make sure the county policy complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. Under the compliance, the county would appoint an ADA coordinator and establish a grievance procedure.
