Marion cheer team selected

Marion cheerleading coach Danyel Prielipp has announced her cheer team for the 2017 season. The team will be cheering during varsity football games.

Prielipp is also the high school athletic director and principal.

Marion participates in 8-player football. Its first home game is this Friday against Onekama. For the following three weeks, Marion will be on the road with games at Big Rapids Crossroads Charter Academy on Aug. 31, at Brethren on Sept. 8 and at Bear Lake on Sept. 16.

The cheer team performs at home on Sept. 22 against Mesick and at home on Sept. 29 against Baldwin. The football and cheer team go on the road for the following two weeks, at Manistee Catholic Central on Oct. 6 and at Portland St. Patrick on Oct. 14.

The final home game for the cheer team is on Oct. 20 with Fife Lake Forest Area.

If the football team qualifies for the postseason playoffs, the cheer team will continue to perform at games. The postseason lasts four weeks, but teams need to win each week to advance. The finals are in mid November at the Northern Michigan University Superior Dome in Marquette.
