Evart crowns homecoming king, queen, lose game

Evart High School conducted homecoming activities on Friday with seniors Jericho Vanscoyoc and Cyana Dellar crowned king and queen at halftime of the football game.

Vanscoyoc is a member of the football team while Dellar also plays for the volleyball squad during the fall.

The homecoming parade was on Friday with the marching band playing songs in front of many community spectators. Candy was tossed to families during the parade.

The homecoming football game was played on Friday night with Lake City (7-0) taking a 51-14 Highland Conference football win over Evart (3-4) on Friday. The Trojans clinched the league title

“They physically dominated us,” Evart coach Pat Craven said. “We didn’t match their physicality. They played like they wanted to win the championship.”

Evart quarterback Carter Pritchard was 10-of-17 passing for 129 yards and two touchdowns, both to Donivan Reagan.
Josh Dorn had nine tackles.

The Wildcats face Holton on Friday.

The Wildcats need to win their next two games to finish 5-4 and be playoff eligible. A 6-3 record automatically gets teams in the playoffs. But 5-4 teams can still qualify for playoff spots, depending on their computer ratings.
