McBain runners compete at Portage

The McBain cross country teams competed at the highly competitive Portage Invitational on Saturday, where the boys and girls squads battled it out against around 30 other division three teams. The girls squad tallied a ninth place finish while the boys were good for 12th.

Leading the Lady Ramblers was Klaudia O’Malley, who had a strong showing with a 12th place in a sub-20 finish of 19:31, Maggie O’Malley continued her promising freshman season with a 56th place finish in a time of 21:01, Brianna Eisenga was 77th at 21:37, Ashley Schierbeek was 85th in a time of 21:54, in 116th was Megan Taylor in a time of 22:39, clocking in at 23:04 was McKenna Gilde with placing of 136th and Olyvia Nederhood was 208th at 25:20.

On the boys side, Gray Vandervelde and Nicolas Rodenbaugh were 23rd and 24th in ties of 17:07 and 17:09, Zachary Bode finished in a time of 17:57 and was 64th, behind him was 68th place finisher Ethan Clark, timing out at 18:01, Eli Nelson came in 127th at 18:51, Kadin Eastway was 151st in a time of 19:04 and Chase Pylkas placed 179th at 19:47.

McBain heads to Montabella for the Mustang Invitational today (Friday) and is in Manton on Tuesday for the Highland Conference championships.
