Marion’s veterans ceremony at 11 a.m.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the United States and the Allied Forces reached an armistice with Germany, ultimately signaling the end of World War I.

Exactly 99 years later, on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. the community of Marion will honor its veterans with a Veterans’ Day ceremony held downtown at the Veterans’ Memorial by the railroad tracks.

Sponsored by the local VFW chapter, the 11 a.m. ceremony will feature student speakers from Marion High School, as well as a keynote address by school board member Ryan Raymond. The VFW encourages everyone to attend, and to bring their families and friends to help honor those who have sacrificed for their country and their community.

Prior to the downtown ceremony, the VFW invites all veterans and current military personnel for free breakfast at the VFW Auxiliary beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
