Mold forces Evart to move City Hall

November 9, 2017

City of Evart officials were in rhe process this week of moving their operations from the current city facilities, because of mold spores.

“City manager Zach Szakacs has issued the following press release:

“The City of Evart is advising city residents that city hall, located at 200 S. Main St. will be temporarily closed until further notice. City personnel have relocated to 5814 100th Ave., Airport Terminal Building, and will be open for business starting this week at 7 a.m.
“The reason for the temporary closure is through due diligence, the city had a mold assessment done at city hall. The City of Evart received the report from Northern Analytical Services, LLC, who advised the city through air testing, city hall had elevated levels of mold spores. The City of Evart apologizes for this inconvenience. Please be advised the phone numbers have not changed.
“The Evart City Hall drop-box will no longer be available. For your convenience, please take your after-hour payments to the Evart Chemical Bank drop-box (located by the main door) in a sealed envelope and clearly labeled ‘Evart City Hall’. If you have any questions or concerns, please call (231) 734-2181.”

City treasurer/assessor Sarah Dvoracek told the Marion Press on Tuesday the transition of offices was keeping city employees extremely busy.

City clerk Heather Pattee said earlier in the week the Evart council would be dealing with the issue at its monthly meeting, which was moved to the fire hall. Other issues deal with a building ordinance, housing commission appointment and recommendations, a Main Street resolution and various township reports.
