O’Malley runs to 4th place at state

The McBain cross country team sent three of its runners to the division three state championship at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. One Lady Rambler made the trip and two members of the boys team competed.

Nicholas Rodenbaugh finished with a time of 16:53.

Klaudia O’Malley, a junior, had a strong race as she took fourth overall in a time of 18:46.

“Klaudia had a rough start to the season, she missed the first month of competition due to a lingering injury from track,” coach Tasha O’Malely said. “She was extremely nervous going into the race but did a fantastic job believing in her ability and training.”

Gray Vandervelde finished with a time of 17:04.

On the boys side, the Ramblers sent a pair of senior runners, those being Nicolas Rodenbaugh and Gray Vandervelde.

Rodenbaugh finished 38th with a time of 16:53 and Vandervelde was 48th with a time of 17:04.

Junior, Klaudia O’Malley took 4th with a time of 18:46.

“Rodenbaugh and Vandervelde finished extremely well in their race,” O’Malley said. “Both boys had an excellent season.”
