The Osceola County Board of Commissioners heard favorable reports on the 2017 Marion Fair and the 2017 Osceola County Fair at their meeting on Tuesday.

Commission vice chair Alan Tiedt said Jacob Stieg reported on the two fairs.

“Both fairs went well,” Tiedt said. “They both showed improvement.”

Tiedt represents Middle Branch, Orient and Sylvan Townships.

Like the other commissioners, Tiedt is hopeful of getting a balanced budget passed. A work session on the budget is set for Monday. This year’s process has been a challenge, Tiedt said.

“It’s a little tougher this year,” he said. “Different departments had different expenditures on their budgets and left us with a pretty good deficit. We’ll work on it Monday before our next meeting.”

Commissioners are having a work session on Monday and will vote on the budget later this month.
