Helping Cancer Patients. Christina and Larry Hinken of Irons present a check for $6,200 to assist patients at Spectrum Health’s Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center in Reed City. The money was raised at their annual Night Owl Breast Cancer auction fundraiser in Lake County, created as a way for the couple to give back for Christina’s own treatment. I am a Breast Cancer Survivor this year. I was diagnosed with DCIS non invasive breast cancer, I started my journey in December of last year with a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. Because I didn’t have good success with my surgeon I ended up going to U of Michigan for reconstruction revision surgery that because of my first plastic surgeons coding was turned down. I went into a deep depression for three months then I took matters into my own hands and called University of Michigan where this awesome plastic surgeon used the correct coding to revise the hideous outcome from the surgeries before. But unfortunately now after the first of the year my deductibles are no longer met so I have to make a tough decision to live with what is done. But at least I am a survivor. It just would’ve been nice to see the finished results. Bless you for giving back.
