Lady Ramblers edged by MP

McBain amped up its defense in its road non-conference game at Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night. The Lady Ramblers still came up short however, as they fell 29-25 to the Lady Oilers.

The Ramblers led 9-4 after the first quarter but Mt. Pleasant took a 16-15 lead by the half and led 24-all entering the fourth quarter.

The game was tied at 24-apiece with about five minutes to play, but the Oilers closed the game on a 5-1 run.

Leading the team in the loss was Klaudia O’Malley with 12 points and Ashley Schierbeek had seven.

On Friday, the Ramblers hosted Kalkaska in another non-conference game. McBain dropped this contest 53-41.

The Ramblers trailed just 13-10 after the first quarter but fell further behind by the half, 28-21. Entering the fourth quarter it was a 38-30 Lady Blazer lead.

In the fourth quarter, Leah Neverth and O’Malley sank a pair of threes to close the score to within 43-38 but McBain wasn’t able to get any closer.

O’Malley led the way with 13 points, Schierbeek chipped in with nine points and Charity Ingleright had eight points.

McBain (0-3 overall) hosts Traverse City St. Francis tonight (Friday), opens up Highland Conference play on Tuesday at home against Evart and travels away to Beal City on Thursday.
