Missaukee County Recycling Center is open on Saturday and Wednesday at the Lake City location on 6240 W. Sanborn Road.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The center accepts the following items: Newspapers, magazines, Office mail & shredded paper, boxboard and corrugated cardboard, No 1 and 2 plastics, bottled shape; No. 3 through 7 plastics with deli, yogurt, and cottage cheese containers and disposable cups; egg cartons for re-use, metal of all kinds, large appliances with a certificate of Freon removed; vinyl siding, injet and laser cartridges and household batteries. No electronics including televisions are accepted.

The Missaukee County Recycling Center also takes the items unable to be recycled–trash is accepted in specially marked bags and can be dropped off on recycling days. Trash is only accepted in green, 30-gallon bags with MISSAUKEE CONSERVATION DISTRICT printed on them. These heavy-duty bags are also made in Michigan. Bags are available for purchase at: A&L, Missaukee Conservation District, Recycling Center, Missaukee County Treasurer in Lake City; McNally’s in McBain.

Bags are $5 each, 5 for $20, or 10 for $35.

Call (231) 839-7193 for more information or email Becky Bode at rebecca.bode@macd.org.

Operation of the recycling center is possible because of community volunteers, Missaukee County officials and taxpayers, Missaukee County Sheriff Department trustees and a USDA Rural Development Solid Waste Management Grant held by Missaukee Conservation District.
