The area has been seeing its fair share of snow in recent weeks and the village of Marion Department of Public Works crew has been busy in making sure the streets and sidewalks are plowed.

“They haven’t had any real problems,” township clerk Marsha Turner said. “They haven’t encountered anything that would hold them up on snow removal.”

The two-man village crew started working on snow removal in mid-December and have remained busy, for the most part, since then.

The state highway department takes care of M-66 going through the village and Turner indicated the road has been properly maintained.

“We haven’t had any complaints,” she said. “We haven’t had anybody and anyone get stuck on them.”

The village will have its first meeting of the year on Jan. 8. The usual date of the first Monday was changed because of New Year’s Day. Turner said there will be a budget workshop on Jan. 22 and the council will do the budget at the February meeting.

“Our fiscal year starts on March 1,” she said.
