The Missaukee County Building and Grounds committee at a recent meeting opened bids for the sale of property that was foreclosed.
“That will now go to the commission for action,” county administrator Precia Garland said. “It goes to the finance committee meeting and final action occurs on Jan. 16 at the regular commission meeting.”
The property is at 6075 West Moorestown Road, Manton. It was abandoned when the owner died and the daughter who inherited wasn’t interested in the property, Garland said. It foreclosed and the county hopes to sell it at its next commission meeting.
The county took full possession of the property on Nov. 10. The balance of the default mortgage was $21,027.
“We had to do quite a bit of cleanup,” Garland said. “We removed two huge dumpsters of trash from the yard and three junk cars. It’s a residential property. There’s still a mobile home that sits on the property. The person who bid on it, from my understanding, is intending to rehab the mobile home and he owns a number of other rentals throughout the county. He will likely make this another rental property.”
