Local writers’ groups seeking new members

March 22, 2018

The local writers’ groups, The Illuminovelists and Write to Publish, would like to invite all those with a passion for writing to attend their upcoming gatherings and events.

The Illuminovelists meet every other Friday at the Marion Public Library, where members discuss their writings and projects they’re working on. Members can engage in small writing exercises and offer critiques on a broad range of writing topics and styles. No matter what kind of writing is of interest – whether it be poetry, novels, non-fiction, journals, and more – the group offers a little something for everyone. The next meeting for the Illuminovelists will take place on March 30th from 1-3 P.M. at the Library.

Members of the Illuminovelists (L-R): Edith Holt, Pamela Symonds, Chris Seering, Peggy Hoard

Write to Publish will be hosting its annual writers’ workshop on Saturday, April 28th from 12:30 to 3:30 at the Cadillac Wexford Public Library. Brought back by popular demand, the workshop is titled: SELF-PUBLISHING & CREATE SPACE. Attendees will receive step-by-step instruction on how you can self-publish on Create Space. There will also be a presentation titled: Why You Should Belong to a Writing Group. Light refreshments, coffee, and water will be provided.

The members of Write to Publish have self-published a collaboration of short stories and poems, “The Magic of Words,” which will be on sale at the workshop. Local writers will also have many of their books for sale and on display.

I have recently moved to Marion and am interested in attending your writers’ group. May I inquire regarding the time and place of your next meeting? Thank you!
