Turner ending 47-year-old stint as Marion Village clerk

Marsha Turner will be stepping down on March 31 as Marion Village clerk.

Turner said her position has been offered to Connie Zuiderveen, the current treasurer and the treasurer’s spot to Jennifer Tucker.

Turner’s position and also the treasurer’s job are filled by appointment.

Action was taken at the regular monthly meeting of the village council on Monday.

“I decided it was time to go,” Turner said. “I’ve been here 47 years. It’s been full-time for 20 years.”
Zuiderveen has been treasurer about seven years, Turner indicated.

“The treasurer’s job is part-time,” Turner said.

The main object (of her position), Turner noted, is to take minutes at the meeting and to keep the budget
Turner did not elaborate on any future plans.

“My husband just (recently) passed away,” she said.

It was announced at Monday’s meeting village cleanup days will be on May 4 and 5. The village will work on flower baskets for summer on Main Street.
