McKenzie Kimball is in her junior season for Evart softball and off to a strong start.

She’s likely to be a pitcher and outfielder this season.

“I pitched a little bit last year,” she said.

Throwing strikes and throwing hard will be her focus.

In center field, “my arm most likely is my strength,” Kimball said. “I’m hoping to hit a lot better than I did last year. I’ll need to practice.”

The Wildcats saw action at Reed City in a doubleheader loss prior to spring break. Getting some action in during April hasn’t been easy. The Wildcats were set to play Montabella at home Thursday and will host Crossroads on April 18.

Kimball, a junior, also plays volleyball and basketball and is focusing on the softball season.

The twinbill at Reed City in late March “was good for us to see what we have and what we need to work on,” Kimball said. “We’re kind of a young team but the skill level is definitely there.”
