crowd,” said OCCF manager Maria Gonzalez. “We had a lot of younger families in the group, which is something that we don’t always get. It was a great turnout and a great event.”

According to Gonzalez, the proceeds from the auction and raffles alone tallied $21,056.  That’s not including ticket sales.  Last year’s auction raised right around $19,000, so Gonzales was excited to see those numbers surpassed.  “We had some great items that went really high, and our attendance was close to the highest, if not the highest that we’ve ever had.”

Some of the items auctioned off included gift certificates to local stores and restaurants, hunting and vacation excursions, and entertainment and event packages.  Nearly all of the items donated to the auction came from local businesses and individuals.

“Next year will be the 25th year,” Gonzales said.  “We’re looking forward to having a big event next year.  We’ll be doing some strategic planning soon to see what we need to do to help serve the needs of the community in a better manner.”
