Just a little over a week ago the Marion fairgrounds was buzzing with activity as the 79th Annual Marion Fair kicked into full swing. In what would prove to be one of the most successful fairs in recent years sadly came to a close last Saturday night. The fair, which began Monday June 17th at the Marion Fairgrounds, featured old-fashioned grandstand entertainment, home arts, large and small animal exhibits and competition. In addition there was a concert featuring Eric Chesser opening for DeWayne Spaw, the ever popular demolition derby and a great midway by Schmidt Amusements.

Thanks to hard work and dedication by volunteers and board members the Marion fair has seen a lot of improvements the last few years. If you missed the fun this year make plans now to come out next year with the whole family or better yet get involved and support the fair by becoming a volunteer.

Plans are already in the works for the 80th Marion Fair in 2019.
