MARION — The Marion Board of Education met on Tuesday for its reorganizational meeting.

Greg Mikulich is currently serving as interim superintendent.

Mikulich took over when Mort Meier retired last month.

“In the regular meeting, I reported that our bus safety inspection passed with flying colors,” Mikulich said. “We had 100 percent on all busses. That’s good. Brad (Sikkema, transportation director) and the bus drivers do a good job. That’s 17 years in a row, if I’m not mistaken. They were very complimentary for us.”

Chad Grundy was hired as the new baseball coach.

Mikulich said there was extensive discussion on the search for elementary principal and school superintendent.

‘I provided information considering the financial considerations we have to take a look at,” Mikulich said. “There’s an X amount of dollars we have to take under consideration. Right now, we’ve had the elementary principal position posted in-house.”

Mikulich said part of his duties is to facilitate the hiring of a new principal and a new part-time superintendent.
“We’re hoping when the school opens this fall, we’ll have these two positions filled,” he said.
