Missaukee Summer Events

LAKE CITY — The Missaukee County District Library has a partnership with the humane society which will add to the library’s program this month.

This includes intergenerational reading buddies with 3Ds featured in July. Persons can come to the library on July 10, 17 and 24.

“We partner people up, we read and there’s a prize at the end,” library director Laura Marion said. “They can also go the to the humane society and they can read there.”

Also on the schedule is a genealogy program 10 a.m., to 2 p.m on July 9 and various summer reading programs. The Crackin’s Rocks program, with Great Lakes Geo Science is at 10 a.m. on July 11. The Pirates Rock program is set for 10 a.m. on July 12 with Faith and Hailey Johnson and allows participants to be a pirate for a day.

“There’s lots of pirate activities on July 12,” Marion said.

Also scheduled is a Come Make Music program, on 10 a.m. July 19 with instruments, petting zoo and making musical instruments. The final summer reading program, for the month is Painting Rocks with artist Marionette Kubicz talking about mixing colors and paint techniques at 10 a.m., July 26.

The final part of the program is Aug. 2.

“We have on line registration tis year and are doing very well with that,” Marion said. “That’s exciting.”
