Marion Schools, Michell big winners in Primary

Tim Michell and Larry Emig were the winners of GOP primaries on Tuesday in the two Osceola County Commissioner races that were contested.

Michell was the winner of a seat that’s open in District 4 He had 252 votes compared to 172 for Robert A. Hoard. Michell faces no one on the ballot in November.

Emig is the commission chair but narrowly won his race 234-222 over Sally Momany for the District 7 seat. Emig has served the commission for 30 years.

In other Republican races, Osceola County voters went for Bill Schuette as governor, Sandy Pensler for U.S. senator, John Molenaar for US. Congressman, Curt VanderWall for state senate Jason Wentworth for state rep in the 97th district and Michelle Hoitenga in the 102nd.

For Democrats, county voters went for Gretchen Whitmer for governor Debbie Stabenow for senator, Jerry Hilliard for Congress, Mike Taillard for state senator, Celia Young-Wenkel for State House 97th district and Dion Adams for the 102nd district.
Voters approved proposals in Burdell Township for road improvement, zoning ordinance and fire protection renewal. Cedar Township OKed fixed millage restoration, Hartwick Township passed a road proposal, Marion and Middle Branch, Richmond and Rose Lake passed road millage. Marion Public Schools passed operating millage 322-222. Voters also approved operating millage in McBain and Reed City area schools.
