Marion assistant fire chief Chris Peterson has gone all-around the country in his role with the United States Forest Service to assist on various natural disaster situations.

It’s been the case so far this year.

Because of dealing with family time and other factors, plus coming off a busy schedule, he will not be going to the east coast to work on situations presented by Hurricane Florence.

After college, Chris started off as a park police officer in Washington D.C.

Peterson said he was contacted about going to the Hurricane area. But he had returned on Aug. 24 after spending time in Oregon to help fight a large wildfire,

So in recent weeks, Peterson has focused on the local area and helping out in various causes. From his standpoint, so far so good.

Chris always knew he wanted to work as a firefighter.
