U.S. 10 accident snarls eastbound Labor Day traffic

September 6, 2018

At approximately 1:45pm, on Sept. 3, Troopers from the Mt. Pleasant Post responded to a multivehicle crash on US10 near 30th Ave. All vehicles involved were eastbound. Traffic was backed up due to the volume at the 4-way stop at the intersection. US10 was shut down for approximately one hour.

A motorhome traveling east bound was unable to stop in time for the traffic in front of him and he crashed into a vehicle causing it to roll over. This vehicle in turn struck the van in front of it forcing it into another vehicle in front of that.

There were no injuries to the occupants of the motorhome. The driver of the rollover vehicle was transported to Reed City Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of that vehicle was treated at the scene.

The driver and occupants of the van were treated and released at the scene. The occupants of the last car involved were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers were assisted by Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies, Evart PD, Osceola EMS, Missaukee County EMS, and Evart Fire and Rescue.

Seatbelts and child restraints were used by all involved. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.
