The McBain Board of Education voted to accept Wolgast Corp. as construction manager for projects included in the May 2019 bond proposal.

“We will work with Wolgast on our May 2019 tech/facilities bond,” Superintendent Steve Prissel said  “They will help indicate cost estimates and support our efforts as we approach a vote in May.”

The board approved the recommendation of Diane Eisenga to hire Jennifer Smith as part-time library aide in the community library.

The board approved a motion to move the December board meeting to 6 p.m. on Dec. 5.

The Wellness Policy plan, as presented, was approved by the board.

The board also had first reading of NEOLA policies. NEOLA serves as a resource and partner for schools consistently providing policy and guideline updates.

Gary Vana reported on the Senior trip to Washington D.C. in the spring.

Despite some recent wintry weather, Prissel said there have not been any snow days so far.

“We are out checking roads by 4 a.m.,” he said. “Taking into the information on the roads we also talk with other area school districts, get information from the road commission, watch local and NOAA weather forecasts and then make the best decision possible about 5 a.m. whether to have school or not.”
