The process continues to find a new director of the Commission on Aging in Missaukee County.

Wendy Musselman has been volunteering with the COA and said there are hopes for a new director by the beginning of the year.
Musselman said Natalie Davis left in mid-August.

“I’m digging into what I can to help and facilitate all that stuff,” Musselman said, adding she communicates with the COA board.

Shannon Scarbrough, CIRS-A/D Support Services Manager and Certified MMAP Counselor, said MCCOA snow-removal program registration is now open. She added seniors are eligible for this program if they are at least 60 years old and a full-time winter Missaukee County resident/homeowner. The snow-removal program is income-based with a sliding scale for cost-sharing, the County COA said. Call MCCOA at 231-839-7839 to schedule a registration or information appointment.

The COA also announced Project Christmas is a community-supported event in Wexford and Missaukee counties and will be on Dec. 8. Project Christmas, the COA added, assists qualifying families and individuals in the area who have financial challenges during the holiday season. Interested seniors, can call Friends Ministry, 231-839-8816, to sign up.
Applications must be received by Nov. 30.
