Missaukee County administrator Precia Garland said she was looking at getting a housing committee meeting set for next week to act on two new applications and others that come in by the end of this week for housing assistance.

“We recently started our new fiscal year so we have limited funding available,” Garland said. “Unfortunately, my waiting list is such where I have enough applications to consider with this round to potentially grant all the funds. The funds are meant to address emergency housing issues. Typically the type of cases we see are leaking roofs, furnaces not working properly any longer and situations where people’s wells stop working.

“Those are typical things we are working with.”

County clerk Jessica Nielsen reported former County Treasurer, Marilyn Keway, has died at the age of 80.
