The seven members of the county Board of Commissioners were sworn into their new two years at Wednesday’s organizational meeting.

Two new members who joined the board were Timothy Michell in District 4 and James Custer in District 6.

Other commissioners returning for another two-year term were Jill Halladay in District 1, Mark Gregory in District 2, Jack Nehmer in District 3, Roger Elkins in District 5 and Larry Emig in District 7.

Elkins said Nehmer was elected chairman over the former chair, Larry Emig, by a 4-3 ballot vote. Elkins said he was nominated for vice chair but he also nominated Gregory who was elected vice chair.

“I was happy to see Mark in that seat,” Elkins said.

During the regular meeting, the board approved budget amendments and also OKed the fiscal year 2019 Older Americans Act Contract Amendment.
