“What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculty. In form and moving how express and admirable. In action, how like an angel. In apprehension, how like a god. The beauty of the world. The paragon of animals.” William Shakespeare in Hamlet

“When I behold your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you set in place-What is man that you should be mindful of him; or the son of man that you should care for him? You have made him little less than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him rule over the works of your hands, putting all things under his feet. All the sheep and oxen, yes and the beast of the field, the birds of the air, the fishes in the sea, and what ever swims the paths of the sea.” Psalm 8:4-9

“God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them saying, ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all living thigs that move on the earth.’ “ Genesis 1:27-28

“See what love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called children of God! Yet that is what we are.” 1 John 3: 1
The world would have us believe that we are no more than dust, a few dollar’s worth of chemicals, the product of evolution. While our bodies are made of dust, chemicals, and perhaps the product of a long process of evolution, we are more than that. Each of us has an immortal soul! Each of us is created by God in his likeness. His life is in us.

How satisfying it is for us to know that we are God’s children, worthy of love, life, liberty, respect and dignity. How sad for those who think of themselves as no more than sophisticated monkeys!

May the Lord bless and keep you. May he let his face shine upon you and give you his peace.
