The Marion Village Council appointed Cal Ellens as the new street administrator at Monday’s monthly board meeting.

“He’ll be taking over the duties of planning for the streets,” council president Don Gilmore said. “He’s a member of the council. So he’ll have administrative duties.”

Ellens replaces Scott Salisbury.

The street administrator “advises the rest of the trustees on projects that should be prioritized,” Gilmore said.

Gilmore added a village budget workshop has been scheduled for Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., at the village hall.

“The public is invited, it’s an open meeting,” Gilmore said. “Anyone with any idea of projects they’d like to see done in the next year is welcome to attend.”

Gilmore said the village has been receiving complaints concerning “dog waste.”

“We remind residents even though it’s winter, they’re required to clean up after their dogs when they’re out for walks on other properties,” Gilmore said.

He added the millpond project finance committee meets regularly the second Wednesday of each month and people with ideas to raise money for the project are welcome to attend.
