Lady Comets take down undefeated Bear Lake

McBain Northern Michigan Christian made the trip to play Bear Lake’s undefeated girls basketball team Monday night. The Lady Comets knocked the Lady Lakers form the from the ranks of the unbeaten, with a lopsided 47-26 non-league win.

The Comets opened the game on an 8-2 run and led 10-6 after the opening stanza. NMC pushed that gap to 24-14 at the half and held a 32-18 edge entering the fourth. The Comet defense forced 18 turnovers for the game.

Individual stats were not provided.

On Friday, NMC lost a low-scoring Highland Conference game at McBain, 28-21.

The Comets had a good opening quarter to take a 9-4 lead, but the Lady Ramblers knotted things up at 13-all by the half.
McBain pulled to a 20-18 lead entering the fourth and held off the Comets from there.

Ally Krick led the Comets with 10 points, six rebounds and three steals, Madelyn Benthem and Ally Sigafoose had five points apiece with Sigafoose hauling in 15 rebounds and added two steals, Anna Lanser had one point, four rebounds and two assists and Kari VanPolen had nine rebounds and one steal.

NMC (6-3 overall, 3-2 Highland) heads to Manton tonight (Friday), hosts Lake City on Tuesday, heads to Evart Thursday and hosts Big Rapids Crossroads Feb. 4.
