The good news is McBain won. The bad news is that Lady Rambler head coach Drew Bronkema expected better things out of his team in their 51-20 Highland Conference home victory over Pine River Thursday night.

“I thought we played a bit sluggish, being our first game in two weeks after taking Christmas Break off,” he said. “We did not value the basketball and had way too many turnovers. It was nice to come out of break with a win though.”

The Ramblers were led by Brianna VanHouten with 12 points, Leah Neverth had 10 and Olyvia Nederhood netted nine.
“We again had a nice balanced scoring attack and shared the ball very well as a team,” Bronekma said. “We have several different girls scoring on different nights so it is tough for teams to focus on certain girls.”

McBain (5-1 overall, 3-0 Highland) hosted Manton on Wednesday, heads to Lake City tonight (Friday), travels to Glen Lake Tuesday and hosts McBain Northern Michigan Christian on Friday.
