The difference between a person and an animal

Dear Editor:
What is the difference between a person and an animal? The fundamental difference between a person and anything else is the human soul. And what is the human soul? I am not a philosopher or a theologian, but I think that we can imagine the soul as the part of God’s heart that He puts into each of His children when He creates them, at the moment of conception.

Our lives, God’s love, and His perfect plan for us did not begin at the moment of birth.

From the very moment of conception, God invests His loving heart into each of His children. Yes, from the very moment of conception, God loves us with all His heart, calls us by name, and wanting us to spend eternity with Him. In fact, He died on a cross, because of our sins, to prove His love for us.

Sunday, January 20th is Sanctity of Life Sunday. Take a few moments on this day to delight in human life, and to rejoice in God’s love for you. While you’re at it, reflect on what you can do to protect human life, from the moment of conception until natural death. Remember, any crime against human life — abortion, assisted suicide, or euthanasia — breaks God’s heart.
Our nation was founded on the ideal that our creator endowed us with life itself; the value of God’s handiwork is impossible for any person or government to ignore or deny not even the Supreme Court.

Please join Wexford/Missaukee Right to Life on Sunday, January 20th as we hold its fifth annual community memorial service for the 36 lives lost by abortion in both counties in 2017 and the nearly 60 million nationwide. The service begins at 2pm at the Calvary Baptist Church North of Lake City.
