A slow start doomed the Eagles on Tuesday night as they fell to Pentwater, 62-32.

Marion trailed 15-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Falcons pushed the lead to 23 points by the half.

Marion outscored Pentwater in the third, 13-12, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

“We fought back and played scrappy in the final 16 minutes,” said head coach Steve Cooper.

Alex Sutten and Brandon Stewart led Marion with 10 points each.

The Marion JV squad closed their game with an 8-2 scoring run to earn the 43-39 comeback victory earlier in the evening.

Thomas Jenema led the way with 20 points for the Eagles. Christian Stewart added 9, and Jason Seabolt, 6.

Marion travels to Manistee Catholic Central for a conference showdown Thursday.
