Auditors give Missaukee favorable rating

Eric Karbowski, Missaukee County Commission on Aging Director, provided an update to the county commission at its meeting on Tuesday.

Karbowski said the COA is continuing to update policies and procedures.

Karbowski said they are looking at financial reporting and want to make sure the BOC is getting all of the information they need.

Vicki Sawicki gave an update on invasive species management through the Conservation District. Sawicki said data showed what invasive species have been treated in Missaukee County.

Joe Verlin, of Gabridge & Company, presented the fiscal year 2018 annual financial audit report. Verlin said the unassigned fund balance for the general fund is 16 percent of the general fund’s annualized expenditures, which is just below the goal of 17. Overall, Verlin said the County had a favorable financial year.

Shari Spoelman, MSU Extension, had an annual report on the agency, and introduced staff members Kathy Lee, Dairy Educator and Laura Quist with the 4-H program.

Spoelman highlighted the Mock it then Rock it program which helps high school youth practice resume building and job interviewing skills.

The board approved the P-4600 Drug Free Workplace Violence policy.
