Roger Pritchard is a village of Marion trustee, who has been impressed with the way the village has been able to handle the challenging weather this winter.

“So far, we’re keeping up with everything,” he said. “It’s been a nightmare this year, The guys have done a good job keeping the streets clean. The ice to deal with is another issue but it looks like we’re going to get rid of it this week.”

Despite the weather, Pritchard has observed there hasn’t been any type of notable problem with accidents.

“There’s been an issue with the ice on the roof because of the weather,” he said. “I’ve got a new house and I’ve been there for 15 years. And it’s the first time water spots have showed on my ceiling. The ice build-up has backed up a little bit. It’s been kind of a weird winter.”

Village council president Don Gillmore agreed.

“We’re happy to see the snow go,” he chuckled. “We’ve got bad spots. There’s ice. But we expect help the next couple of days with warm weather. We just worry about the dam when you get flash floods. It hasn’t started to rise yet. We were lucky this winter, with very few freeze ups for as cold as it’s been.”
