McBain Northern Michigan Christian put up quite the fight in its division four district semi-final game with tourney host Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The Comets couldn’t quite knock off the heavily favored Irish however, as they were forced to face a 55-50 season-ending setback.

The Irish carried a 12-6 lead after the first quarter but NMC was able to mount a 24-22 lead by the half. The game was knotted up at 39-apiece entering the fourth, where NMC claimed a lead until a late Irish run spoiled NMC’s night.

Leading the way in the setback was Grant Pogue with 22 points, Tanner Mulder and Trevin Winkle had seven points each.
NMC finishes the season 6-14 overall.
