Ramblers upset by BC in districts

McBain was able to get the better of Beal City in its two meetings during the regular season. The Aggies were apparently waiting for their best basketball of the season for the playoffs as they managed to upset the Ramblers in the two’s boys division three district final Friday night, held at Beal City, 42-36.

The game was knotted up at 8-apiece after the first quarter, with the Ramblers holding a slight 14-13 lead at the half. The Aggies led by as much as six in the third quarter, though it was 35-all at one point in the fourth. Beal City closed out the game on a 7-1 run to seal the win.

Pacing the Ramblers was Logan Rodenbaugh with 11 points, Devin Morris had nine, Grayson VerBerkmoes netted eight and Garrett VerBerkmoes netted six.

On Wednesday, Feb. 27 the Ramblers earned a district semi-final win, 59-46 over Montabella.

McBain actually trailed 20-8 after the first quarter and 28-20 at the half but the second half belonged to the Ramblers as they stormed back for a 41-28 lead entering the fourth.

Garrett VerBerkmoes netted 15 points to lead the way, Rodenbaugh scored 13 and Morris chipped in with seven.
McBain finishes the season 16-5 overall.
