Luke D. Houlton, manager of the Osceola County Road Commission, has announced season weight and speed restrictions will be enforced on Osceola County roads starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, until further notice.

The seasonal load and speed limits are on county roads except those specifically exempted. There are 17 routes which are exempt from the restrictions.

Among those routes are 20 Mile Road from M-115 east to Clareola Road at the Clare County line; Mackinaw Trail from US 10 northeasterly to 5 Mile Road and 95th Avenue from US 10 north to 5th Street in the City of Evart.

The action is taken to protect the condition of the roads.

Special permits allowing normal loading with a maximum speed of 35 miles per hour can be issued on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the road commission, Houlton said, and bond requirements may apply.

Persons may contact the Osceola County Road Commission at 231 832-5171 for more information.
