John Eisenga

John Eisenga, age 79 of Marion, passed away at his home on March 28, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born on Feb. 2, 1940 to David and Jennie (Brinks) Eisenga on the Eisenga family farm in Highland Township of Osceola County. He married the love of his life Gloria Gardner on Feb. 4, 1961 in Flint and she survives. Together they had three children, Michelle

Hawkins, Melanie (Bob) Pride, and Dean (Margie) Eisenga. He has four grandkids, Nicole, Travis, A.J., and Corey, seven great grandchildren with namesake, Cayden John, 2 step great grandchildren, and 2 step great great grandchildren. His surviving siblings and in-laws are, Bernard (Judy) Eisenga, Hilda (Jim) Cruz, Karen Eisenga, David (Connie) Eisenga, Jim (Arlene) Eisenga and many nieces and nephews.

John will be remembered primarily by his presence at the coffee shops in Marion. He spent his life on the family farm west of Marion. He was politically active in the Republican Party-Trump. He loved his social comradery of bowling. When he retired he kept busy with lawn care and repair. He was always there if someone needed a helping hand. He loved vacationing in Florida for 30 years at the time share and camping at Rose Lake. The color tour with special friends Richielene and Brian Hoekema were a highlight of the year. He and his wife attended the Marion United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Johanna Dykgraaf and a brother, Henry Jay Eisenga.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, at noon at the Highland Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jim Mort officiating. Burial will take place in the Highland Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until noon at the church prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
