The McBain Schools Board of Education voted at a recent meeting to postpone its May bond issue election.

The board had previously set the date to vote on a bond issue with a special May election.

“The Board did vote to postpone the May bond election,” McBain superintendent Stephen R. Prissel, said. “We felt that we needed some more time to communicate to and with the public on this important issue.

“The bond includes items that are very important to our district. The extra time will be used to get out and gather information. The Board will decide on whether it will be on the August or November ballot.”
Also at the recent meet, the board approved the following school Improvement plans for 2019-2020 school year: K-5, 6-8, 9-12.

“Last year, the district improvement plans were K-6 and 7-12,” Prissell said. “We now have a middle school principal so our plans will be K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.”

The board accepted the resignation of parapro Tanya Snyder with regrets and accepted the retirement of Dan Eisenga effective June 30, 2019 with regrets. The board also accepted the recommendation of athletic director Shaun Mulder to hire Erik Culp as middle school boys track coach.
