New Missaukee COA director settles in

Eric Karbowski continues to settle into his role as the new executive director of the Missaukee County Commission on Aging.

He was recently appointed to that position.

“For the past 10 years I supervised a program in the public mental health system,” he said. “Additionally, I’m a consultant with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Boston University. Prior to my work in the public mental health system, I worked for Goodwill of Greater Grand Rapids in Workforce Development program and Michigan Works! providing vocational rehabilitation, education and training services/supports to individuals.”

Educationally, he was a three-year letter winner for the Central Michigan University football program and earned is bachelors degree of science in education and masters degree of arts in administration.  

“I have always enjoyed working with the senior population and have a lot of strong connections in Missaukee County,” Karbowski said. “I’m here to work with the seniors of Missaukee County, board of directors, MCCOA staff and community at large to provide a variety of supports and services in alignment with the mission and values of the MCCOA.

“I’m here to provide a positive, interactive and community focused culture that embraces and supports the needs and opportunities of the seniors in Missaukee County. 

Currently the MCCOA offers a variety of services; medication setup, foot care, homemaking, personal care, respite care, home chore, non emergency transportation, Medicare/Medicaid Assistance, snow removal, and senior project fresh.” 

Karbowski is excited with the future.

“The MCCOA is supported by the community,” he said. “We value resident feedback, thoughts, and suggestions. As we work to develop new ideas and opportunities please know that our doors are always open and all are welcome.”
