Evart residents were elated with the recent announcement by Ventra Evart LLC of its purchase of the vacant Dean’s Foods 138,000 square-foot building about a mile from its current facility in Evart to accommodate growth.
Among those individuals was Roger Elkins, an Evart resident and member of the Osceola County Board of Commissioners.

“It’s good news for the city and good news for the county,” Elkins said.

Ventra is a local auto parts mold company and is a subsidiary of auto parts giant Flex-N-Gate Corp.

According to published reports, the project is a $3.75 million investment and will result in 50 new jobs within one year.

Dean’s Foods shut down its Evart facility in 2013. It was later bought by west Michigan Dairy Ventures, according to published reports, which said the added space will be used for light assembly and warehouse space.
